Mary, Mother of Sorrows, is the paternal feast of the Congregation of Holy Cross celebrated on September 15. Blessed Virgin Mary is the perfect example for us to follow who “stood by the cross of Jesus… who knew grief… a woman who bore much she could not understand and who stood fast. To her many sons and daughters, whose devotions ought to being them to her side, she tell much of this daily cross and its daily hope. (Constitutions of Holy Cross, 8 # 120). In the challenges of life and crisis of faith, we dare to hope with Mary our Mother, and await silently for the newness of resurrection of life. As a community of faith, we pray and support the silently suffering church for the firmness of faith in the Merciful Lord. May Mary, Mother of Sorrows, who stood silently near Jesus on the Cross, intercede and protect us all.

We celebrate the heroic witness of many men and women who silently proclaim the message of the Gospel and spread the devotion to our Lady by making and praying the Family Rosary. We encourage you to share and support those silent heroes of our church who may be in our own families, parishes, and in communities. Let us be inspired by such examples of faith and devotion in our own faith journey. We thank you for your commitment and devotion in spreading the family prayer. May every family – “a masterpiece of God”, draw its true value and inspiration from God, our Creator and author of life. The family that prays together, stays together. - Venerable Patrick Peyton, CSC
